There are some legends about the river.
According to one of them a regiment was going on foot across the river, due to a dry summer, the river was so shallow, that the soldiers moved it, without wetting their feet, this event and gave the name of the river Mocha.
Also there is a more beautiful legend. According to it The Empire Catherine II liked to be in this forest region. Once she was walking along the bank of the river and soaked the skirts of her dress, and gave its name to the river Mocha, and called the village, which was located not far from the river, Podol.
Later, the town Podolsk developed from this small village. This is only a legend, but who knows, maybe it is not just a legend.
After all, Podolsk district was formed thanks to the order of Catherine II.
